Lab 1 3D Model (Marcus Merkelbach

This was my first time using Fusion 360, and because of that, I had a lot of difficulties initially using Fusion 360. I found that there were a lot of different three-dimensional shapes that I was able to create with the program by simply clicking my mouse, this caused some initial struggles because I was having difficulty finding the fillet option given the sheer number of shape options that are present in Fusion 360. A compromise I had to make when constructing my dye occurred when I was using the fillet option on the edges. I felt that the smallest fillet option was too severe but since there was no smaller and less severe option I had to compromise and go with the smallest fillet option that was available. Fusion 360 has a lot of potential to benefit humanistic research, for example, it gives researchers the ability to recreate archeological objects in a digital landscape making these objects more accessible for examination.

  1. Nice die! I had many similar problems to you, I think the website is not very intuitive, but once you get the hang of Fusion360 the possibilities are immense! On another note, the filleting you did to the cube is very nice and smooth, it makes the die look so real!

  2. Super nice and excellent die you constructed there Marcus, I wish mine looked that good! I also encountered problems with the fillet application when trying to make the holes. However, in your case I assume making the sketch of the die larger so the fillet can appear smaller as a trick of perception, but if you want some more in-depth help just let me know. 😉
