We will get all of our data from the Carleton Football statistics page. We will use it to gather team statistics from 2004-2021. The source is in HTML format, but we will move the data into an excel spreadsheet. Carleton athletics owns the data, but it is for public use. There is no sensitive information in the data. Everything is public information.
So far we have started taking the data from the website into an excel spreadsheet. Once we have all of the data, we will begin cleaning and analyzing the numbers. Then, we will use Rawgraphs.io to build visualizations. We had no issues with this project, but we ran into an issue with our original idea because we did not have access to some of the prior years rosters.
We’ve all been working collectively to get the numbers into excel. Once that is done, we will each focus on certain statistics.

This is an interesting project idea! What kind of information are you looking to learn from your data, is it performance over the years, or something different? Also, what kind of visualizations are you hoping to learn with the information?

Guys, such a fantastic project idea. I think it’s great that football players chose a football topic, and I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of unique spin you guys can give this endeavor. I did have one question, why did you guys choose to research from only 2004 to 2021? Was there another reason, or was it just that there was no information from years earlier?
