Lab 6 – Web Mapping 101 (Fraudy)

Introduction

For the ArcGIS map, I chose the Gould Library, the Center for Mathematics and Computing, Olin Hall of Science, the Recreational Center at Carleton College, and the Skinner Memorial Chapel as my five locations for this interactive map, this spreadsheet will have all the data on each location on the map.

Thoughts on the process

When I was making the spreadsheet and ArcGIS map it was relatively easy to do once I reread what the prompt wanted me to make although it took an egregious amount of time to plot down and input the information. I thought making this interactive map was pretty interesting seeing all the features you can add to your map although I only added the outline for each of the five buildings it was pretty interesting nonetheless.

Digital mapping can be extremely useful and can be seen in everyday use, this can include GPS in our devices and websites such as ArcGIS and Georeferencer. Both kinds of GPS provide information about a place but the varying information will depend on what the person wants to portray to others.

ArcGIS’s potential use can skyrocket and become a website that everyone can rely on. With the interactiveness of the maps and the different ways data can be implemented, it can be greatly inferred that ArcGIS can be a website used by everyone.
