I started by picking a mild and simple background map where I was able to emphasize my locations from. Each of the other details on the map were a different color. I chose a sun to represent the number of days I visited each location. I also changed the color of the labels to highlight them. Web mapping is a very powerful tool for digital humanities. It allows a lot of information to be shared in one visual. The different layers you can add or take away from an ArcGIS map in particular makes it a very useful tool. The ability to only look at couple of layers at a time makes it much easier to digest a lot of information. ArcGIS also gives people access to a huge range of information because you can access other published maps and add layers to your own. This tool makes map making so much easier and faster for everyone which will add to the available information out there.
