My Stance
I believe the ability to code is what drives modern day innovation, as our lives depend on the advancement and preservation of technology. However, the ability to code does not discredit the contributions of non-coder digital humanists as the access to coding knowledge is its own education issue.
I do agree with Kirschenbaum in his argument about the ability top code being the necessary steps for DH advancements, but its not necessary as Donahue argues when they say, “I think, to anyone from the humanities, with or without the ability to program; that they are pursued with algorithms and code does not change the fact that in the end many of the same questions are asked, and many of the same approaches shared”(A “Hello World” Apart (why humanities students should NOT learn to program).
Coding Experience
I have experience working with Rcode on a personal and professional level, and I know a good chuck of Python. However, this was my first time working specifically with HTML and I was blown away. It was so cool seeing code actualize in real time versus coding and then running the code.
