


For this lab, I decided to stick to modeling a dice. I found creating the dice fairly easy as it has a very symmetrical shape. Through the process, I got very familiar with the extrude, shape, hole and fillet functions in Fusion 360. However, I originally had some problems with creating the holes in the dice. I tried to use the extrude function in reverse to create holes but found this did not garner the results I was looking for. After finishing the dice with minimal problems I attempted to take on the task of creating a mug, successfully creating the cup. However, I struggled finding a successful method for creating the handle, exploring the revolve function. I decided to compromise and stick with my dice design and leave my mug project for later. If I were to continue attempting the mug I would consult online tutorials for the handle element of my mug. I think my best piece of advice is that it is important to find a balance between individual exploration and research as you can easily find yourself stuck on a tools functionality for a long time.
I think that your dice turned out really well! I definitely agree with your point about finding the balance between individual exploration and research. I think it is fun to explore new tools but it is hard when you don’t have enough time to do so especially when it comes to assignments. I definitely think an introduction to tools would be helpful to help you navigate through your project better.
I also had some problems using tools and getting the results that I wanted but I tried my best to work around it.
I also had some problems with creating the holes in the dice. When I created mine the holes were too deep and I had to move them frequently as a result. I feel yours turned out well and I’m glad you were able to finish the design! I agree that if I had more time I’d like to explore different items to create. However, I feel the dice was still a very nice introduction to learning and getting somewhat familiar with the software.
