Lab 1 – 3D Model (Jacob Ventura)

This was my first experience using fusion 360 and it was difficult at first. I was overwhelmed with all of the different functions and it was difficult. However, once I just focused on a couple of the different aspects of the program, I was able to create the die. I only used the create sketch, extrude, fillet, and create hole functions. Using only those made it a lot easier. I think fusion 360 can be used a lot for research and teaching, particularly for artifacts that are now dilapidated. We can recreate the object and represent what it was in the past. Educators can teach about the objects better because students are able to visualize the artifacts. I found the extract tool the most useful because it is what brought the design to 3D.

  1. Jacob, I completely agree. Like you, I originally had major difficulties, but I quickly started to understand how multiple tools worked, progressively developing skill. Simply knowing how to use those few tools made it much simpler to create my object. Without a doubt, the extract tool appears as a crucial element in this context because, without it, the work could fail to accurately represent a 3D model.
