Making this model was initially pretty difficult but once I understood how to make the circular indentations it was fairly straight forward. Navigating the viewport and using the sketch feature to create mesh bodies were the two things that tripped me up at first. On my second attempt, after I became more comfortable with navigating the program, I decided not to use the sketch tool and instead went straight to using cylinders to cut into the box. This worked much better and the process went much smoother. Not using the sketch tool was a compromise I made, eventually I hope I can return to learn that tool as I continue to learn the program. I can certainly see this tool being useful for modeling fragile artifacts or objects of the past; making 3D objects more accessible to researchers and students. One tip I would share is when you’re rotating your object, using the orientation cube in the top right corner to center each face was very helpful.
I like the indents you put on the edges of the cube; it definitely makes the object stand out. Also interesting how you didn’t use the sketch tool in your second attempt, as I tried to go without it as well but that didn’t end up so well. Nice work!
